George M. Bee President & CEO and Director
George Bee joined Andina from Aurelian Resources (acquired by Kinross Gold Corporation) where he held the title of Chief Operating Officer and was primarily responsible for the development of Aurelian's principal project, the Fruta del Norte Project in Ecuador. Prior to that George was Director, Technical Projects for Barrick Gold Corporation. George first joined Barrick in 1989 and during his career at Barrick was responsible for a number of operating and development projects. In 1998, he went to Latin America as Operations Manager to finalize construction and commence operations at the Pierina mine in Peru. In 2005, with the development of the Veladero mine, he completed his assignment to finalize the advanced exploration and feasibility stages of this large tonnage, low-grade heap leach operation located at altitude in the Argentine Andes.
Derrick Weyrauch Chief Financial Officer
Derrick Weyrauch joined Andina with 20 years of senior financial leadership experience in international companies operating throughout North and South America as well as Europe. Derrick's extensive experience includes financing, corporate turnaround and restructuring, strategic planning and M&A transactions. Most recently, Derrick was the Chief Financial Officer of Malbex Resources Inc., a publicly traded gold mining company. He also served as Treasurer and Director of Finance for Gabriel Resources Ltd., another publically traded gold mining company. Derrick is a Chartered Accountant having earned his CA designation with KPMG LLP in 1990, is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, the Institute of Corporate Directors and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.
Bob Rose Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Rose joined Andina Minerals from Kappes, Cassiday & Associates ("KCA"), where he held the position of Project Manager/Senior Engineer. Mr. Rose was employed by KCA for 24 years where he was engaged in a wide variety of assignments including Project Manager for construction of the Pinos Altos mine (Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd.) and the Ocampo mine (AuRico Gold Inc.). Bob has, throughout the America's, managed and/or consulted on the preparation of feasibility studies and the design of project facilities for heap leach and milling operations, in particular for leach pads, ponds and recovery plants. Additionally, he has managed various construction, installation and start-up projects. Prior to KCA, Mr. Rose was the Project Manager/Mine Superintendent with Alhambra Mines Inc. in Nevada.
Alejandro Labbé Vice President, Project Development
Mr. Labbé joined Andina from Hatch Engineering Chile where he was working as Project Manager and Consultant Director. Alejandro has over 35 years of experience in the mining industry in Chile. This includes 22 years with CODELCO in various roles including divisional General Manager, and 10 years with Barrick Gold Corp. where he was General Manager of the El Indio Mine and Operations Manager for the Pascua Lama Project. Among Mr. Labbé's many accomplishments was the orderly and successful closure of the El Indio Mine, the first mine to be closed under new COREMA (Comisión Regional de Medio Ambiente) regulations. Mr. Labbé is a Civil/Mechanical Engineer and brings a wealth of experience on project development and management of operations at high altitudes.
Cybill Tsung Corporate Controller
Cybill Tsung joined Andina Minerals from Gabriel Resources Ltd., a publicly traded gold exploration and development company with mineral properties in Romania where she was Assistant Controller responsible for financial reporting and analysis, treasury, internal control and systems. Prior to Gabriel, she was Manager of Internal Audit for ATI Technologies, which was one of the largest semiconductor technology companies in Canada. Cybill obtained her Chartered Accountant designation with BDO Dunwoody LLP and has a Master of Accounting degree from the University of Waterloo.
