Andina Minerals Inc was formed in late
2003 by a group of former senior Toronto management and senior Chilean
exploration staff from TVX Gold Inc., an Americas-focused precious
metals producer that was purchased by Kinross Gold in 2003. During the
first half of 2004, Andina selectively assembled of portfolio of gold
and/or copper exploration projects in Chile. In October 2004, CastleRock
Resources announced that it was acquiring Andina, and that the combined
companies would be called Andina Minerals Inc. The transaction, in
conjunction with a CDN$9.5 million financing, closed on December 31,
2004.
Since January 2005, Andina has maintained an active exploration
presence in Chile and as part of its ongoing review of opportunities in
Chile, the Company has acquired additional exploration project, while
terminating agreements on those projects which did not meet our
objectives. The main focus of Andina is our Volcan Gold Project where
the Company has completed over 90,000 metres of drilling and discovered
three gold deposits in the Dorado area: the Dorado East, Central and
